Here are two vids we've taken of H recently. The first is of her watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade & seeing the Mickey Mouse float; the second is H dancing to Christmas music while we were decorating. So cute!Monday, November 28, 2011
I know...it's been a while.
Quick update: H is 21 months now; we had a wonderful summer (trips to Callaway Gardens, 30A twice; Gulf Breeze; Fairhope/The Grand; and lots of fun in Bham); Bayron & I just celebrated our 5 year anniversary (in the Dominican Republic - awesome!); my family celebrated Granny's 80th bday recently; Abbie & Ezra are great; Harley attended her first Alabama Football game a couple of weeks ago (see below); we beat AU in the Iron Bowl this past Saturday & we are hopefully on our way to the National Championship game in Nawlins. RTR!

Harley laughing so hard she's crying...
Bayron took this vid back in January at his parents house. Harley was laughing at Dolly (the dog) so hard that Bayron said tears were running down her face. He just sent it to me, so I thought I would post for all to see. :)
Easy Recipes and Easter Eggs
Last week I made two recipes that were really easy & really good. Thought I would share:
http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=10000001940193
(I used corn tortillas)
http://find.myrecipes.com/recipes/recipefinder.dyn?action=displayRecipe&recipe_id=10000001940265
(I used fat free sour cream)
I used ground turkey breast for both recipes.
---------------------------------------------------
Easter Eggs - I buy The Country Hen eggs from Publix. I swear they are the best eggs I've ever tasted. In each carton, you get a little newsletter and this weeks newsletter was really cute. The topic is "WE ASK...WHY SHOULD THE WHITE EGGS HAVE ALL THE EASTER FUN?"
It goes on to tell you how brown eggs actually dye better than white, but you have to utilize natural dyeing methods or food coloring dyeing rather than the store bought Easter Egg dye. I will be buying the cheap white eggs to dye for Easter...however, I am going to implement the natural dyeing or food color dyeing methods! Yay! A (somewhat) chemical free way to dye Easter Eggs! Here you go:
FOOD COLORING METHOD
1 cup hot water
2 teaspoons of white vinegar
1 teaspoon of food coloring (you can adjust the amount to reach your desired shade)
Mix the 3 ingredients for each food coloring you want (red, blue, green, etc.) Don't forget about using your base colors to create other colors. For example, mix red and yellow for orange, or red an blue for purple. Dip cool, hard boiled eggs into the food coloring dyes until desired color is achieved. Let eggs dry on a rack or in an egg carton.
NATURAL EGG DYES
BLUE - Red Cabbage Leaves
ORANGE - Paprika
RED - Lots of Red Onion Skins
PINK - Beets
PURPLE - Small amount of Red Onion Skins
YELLOW - Saffron
Bring 1 cup of water and dye ingredients to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes to 1 hour until desired color is obtained. Strain dye liquid and add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Kip cool, hard boiled eggs into hot liquid and let sit until desired color is acheived. Take eggs out of the dye and put on a rack or in an egg carton to dry. Careful - color can be easiliy removed until egg is dry. Eggs colored this way have a dull finish, but when they are dry, use cooking oil to add a gloss to them.
It goes on to say the most vibrant colors were created with the beets, saffron & red cabbage.

And in closing, here's a cute pic of Ruby and Harley from Rick & Hilary's post-wedding brunch. :)

A blog neglected.
I have neglected my blog. While I feel bad for my blog, it is what it is and it's not going to change. Harley is keeping me very, very busy. If I'm not with her, I'm working. If I'm not working, I'm cleaning. If I'm not cleaning, I'm taking care of Abbie & Ezra. If I'm not taking care of Abbie & Ezra, I'm running errands. And if I'm not running errands, I'm attempting to have a social life with my husband, family and friends. SO, my poor, sweet blog is taking the hit.
Thus, this blog entry is to sum up my life in a nutshell over the past couple of months: Rick & Hilary (who are getting married this weekend!) came up for a visit; Abbie went for a check up in Auburn and is doing great; Harley turned one and had a fabulous party; Bayron & I had a nice dinner at Bellini's for Valentine's Day; Bayron's incentive trip to Turks & Caicos rocked; St. Pat's Day (saw Lektric Mullet in Pcola at Paddy O'Leary's) was a blast; Bryan's bday party at the Fun Plex in Gulf Breeze was fun; and the Baggett's trip to the Georgia Aquarium was great. :)
And here are some pics over the past couple of months:

Sad to say goodbye to the Passat...

but so excited about the Outback!
The house was brown (boo)...

and now it's white (woo hoo)!
