Granny and Pawpaw and my Cherokee heritage

Found these pics of my late Granny & Pawpaw Bryan while I was cleaning off my computer and thought I would post. My Dad's parents...SO GOOD LOOKING!

And this is my great, great Grandmother and the reason I'm 1/32 Cherokee Indian. She's the one sitting with all of her granddaughters and granddaughters-in-law around her. She was my Pawpaw's grandmother and full-blooded Cherokee Indian and her name was Hariett Adams. I know...not very Native American sounding. My Granny is the gorgeous brunette second from the left.

I got 99 days and the oven has a bun...

I'm 99 days pregnant today!! Started my second trimester yesterday so I'm hoping to feel better ASAP. I'm SO ready to feel that "2nd trimester bliss" people keep telling me about.

According to one of the many sites I visit every day, the baby looks like this:

Only four more weeks to find out if we have a him or a her. September 23rd. Can't wait!

Bryan, Madeline, Mom, Life is Good, and Peanut

I realized I'm a little past due on my blog, so I'll catch up all in one post. First, we had a blast with Bryan when he visited a few weeks ago. Bayron & I took him & Madeline to the McWane Center one day...always fun!

We also had a nice time celebrating Mom's Bday...first at the house with the family, then a couple of days later at the Summit Club.

The weekend before last, Life was Good with Greta & Taryn. While I missed our Annual B's trip this summer, it was wonderful to get away with at least one B and Taryn to Pcola beach. We got to hang out with Lori & Lane a good bit and see Bryan one night too. Can't wait to go back soon and get back to the normal Annual trip next year!

And an update on Peanut...I'm 13 weeks TODAY! I already have a little baby bump although I've lost 8 pounds! Here it is (along with my VIRGIN strawberry daiquiri)...

OBX and Avery

Bayron & I finally got up to NC to see Jennifer, Jeff & little Avery. We had such a nice, relaxing trip. It was a blast getting to know Avery and we even got to see Spud and Carol for some good grub at their house on the coast. Thanks to Jen, Jeff, Carol & Spud for the hospitality!

Avery saw us off at the airport...

The word is out...announcing the Peanut

I suppose I can officially announce it...Bayron & I are going to have a little Peanut! I'm 7 weeks and doing great other than being tired and some nauseousness. We went to the doc last week and our little one has a heartbeat of 113 bpm! Due date is February 21, 2010...seems like a long way away, but I know it will be here before we realize. Please keep us in your prayers for a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Mmmm...Potato Tacos

From Sandra Lee:

Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon fajita seasoning
1 (16-ounce) bag pre-cooked diced red-skin potatoes
1/2 cup pre-sliced mushrooms
1/3 cup reduced-fat Mexican blend cheese
1 (16-ounce) can vegetarian refried beans
3/4 cup cilantro salsa, plus more for serving
1 (5.8-ounce) box white corn taco shells
Chopped red onion, tomato, and lettuce, for serving

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil; set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, stir together oil and fajita seasoning. Add potatoes and mushrooms and toss until well coated. Transfer to prepared baking sheet and arrange in a single layer. Sprinkle with cheese and bake for 15 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Meanwhile, stir together beans and salsa in microwave-safe bowl. Cover with a damp paper towel and microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes; set aside.

Heat taco shells in oven for 3 to 5 minutes.

Spoon beans into heated taco shells. Top with potato mixture and garnish with red onion, tomato, and lettuce.

Serve immediately with salsa.

I made my own Taco Seasoning...the recipe I found online is below:

HOMEMADE TACO SEASONING MIX

1 tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. each ground cumin, garlic powder, paprika, powdered oregano and sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl. Makes 3 tablespoons of seasoning mix, which is equal in strength to a 1/4 ounce package of commercial seasoning mix.

Bryan dancing at Navarre Beach...

You can't hear him, but at the very end, he says "I'm tired" and that's what we're all laughing at. He's hilarious.

I love my family. Bay and I spent this past weekend at the beach with my parents, my sis, bro-in-law, and sweet nephew and we had a BLAST! I feel so fortunate to not only have a family I can count on for anything, but also one that's FUN! And I'm not forgetting the in-laws either...they are awesome too. I'm one lucky girl!
